2006!

i must say it has been a pretty good year
i was happy almost all the time
laughing like i nv laughed before! (aka like a mad person =P)
but really i think that's one significant part of 2006
i feel really happy and contented
i think i've grown more MATURE too
as in those wise wise thinkings all "came" this year
yeah =)
i opened up more, dared to join and try more things

and had alot of fun in school lah! HAHAHAH
i dont know how to explain but ya
i just get quite high in sch! =P
studies, ok i'm qt satisfied with how i did this year
but still i can work harder! stop gg online so often! zzz

hahaha so this one last year in nj
i must treasure all the time that i'll spend with my friends
cos i know i'll miss them after we graduate!

every year i'll be so excited for the first day of sch!
that i wont be able to sleep the night before
but this year i'm dreading 3jan
it will be our forth and final year in nj
hahaha you might think it has been a vvv long time lah
but time really flies!
i think its because we've been busy with this and that
and also because there were fun times lah =)

so we're going to be J2/IP4s next yr!
omg so old! can you all imagine lucinda is a j2! HAHAH =P
aiya but i feel very sad and scared
i know the year will zoom past vv quickly!
and soon we'll graduate
no more seeing each other in school going for lessons
gossiping laughing eating training together

and next year is also the impt impt year
we'll all have to work extremely hard!

sigh but we must encourage and help each other ok!
i think that's the only way we can survive and do well

but i guess there's no point in just being disappointed with myself because of the mistakes i made
i will try to work on them tmr

- look before i pass. no panic pass and learn how to adapt, if the person is not there yet dont force the pass

- no drop balls

- at try line, go low and take a step off the try line

- more communication. be clear of what move we're doing, make sure everyone else knows. support and call for inside passes louder and earlier

- go for the gaps not the man. try inside passes

couldn't go anywhere today
so i spent my time reading

i think the guardian by nicholas sparks is v nice
some parts just made me laugh or gave me this feeling of familiarity
like i actually know people who resemble the characters =)

He was fighting long strings of cheese that ran from his mouth back to the slice,

i'm back from obs!! =)
shall blog about it so i wont forget what we did during the 5days
and for kaypoh ppl to read lah =P
i warn you, its vv long!

day 1

at punggol jetty

arrived at obs camp2
then we were all so sad cos camp1 was like a resort
HAHAHA but we realise cos our course was mobile
and camp1 is only for secondary school students
yups i was posted to a watch called AMUNDSEN!
there were 16 of us from njc, tjc and tpjc
and we had 2 wonderful instructors, mario and birin!!
i think the 5days wouldnt have been so fun without all their jokes and funny antics =P hahaha
we played a few teambuilding and icebreaker games
like trust fall and the transfer of rope game
and we slowly got to know each other =P
distributed the rations too
it was really alot!
like mario say we will eat until stupid HAHAHA =P
but they're mostly biscuits, bread, musli bars, drinks powder and some rice and maggi mee to cook dinner
after that they taught us how to belay each other
wah cos most of the things require the lightest to try first
so its like alw me! zzz hahahaha
we also packed our bags cos we would be setting off to another campsite the next day and will only be back on thurs
wah!! everyone's bag was huge and super super heavy! because we also had to carry along lifejackets 2 2l bottles mess tins poncho and some tents and jerry cans!
i really really look like a tortise i tell you hhaha =P
after that was nth much
we were taught how to pitch tents do cooking and went to wash up
knowing that we wont be able to bathe again for the next 2days! HAHAHA omg
ya we ate rice with beans and peanuts for dinner
though the rice was abit hard not bad lah first day eh! =P
oh had fire drill also
had to assemble at the jetty
hahahaa first day was quite slow and i really wanted to go back
but it got better lah =)

day 2
did dangling duo in the morning
all of us managed to reach the top with encourgement from our team members =)
wahahaha i stepped on pearlyn's trackpants until it was all muddy
but yay we did it! so fun i was laughing and the logs shook even more zzz =P
after that went down to do some final packing
loaded our backpacks onto some boat
and off we went to kayak!
they taught us some skills to turn left right
and we had to do what i was dreading since day1
CAPSIZE DRILL!! hahahahah
but it wasnt that bad lah
at least this time i didnt hit my head or kick until the kayak jump up! =P
but i still drank alot of water! eeks hahaha
did the rescue drill also
then kayaked to our campsite for the day
it was this small plot of land lah
but could see the sea! so nice =)
pitched tents again, and cos this time the pegs couldnt go into the ground we had to use rocks instead
hahahahaha so the results was saggy tents!
so funny i was laughing at some tents taht were so saggy that i wonder how they are gg to sleep in it at night! =P HAHAH
ya after that started washing up
no toilets! no shower!
so we made do with wet tissues and powder bath
toileting was vv funny!
it was at the beach near the shoreline
then like 1whole gang of girls will go together
sometimes even with ppl from other watches
so you start making friends! HAHAHA yes through toileting =P
then we'll take turns
2 by 2
the rest will stand in a row
and form like a fortress
HAHAHAH like gang fight like that lah! =P
ya then had dinner
cooked rice with sth i forgot alr =P
then had sentry duty!
to look after our kayaks the boats and to make sure no illegal immigrants appear at night and want to share tents with us
HAHAHA =P
but didnt do much lah just sat ard
and look at the sea! can see the lights from singapore! so nice=)

day 3
sea ex!
together with armstrong battuta and cheng ho!
hahahaha we kayaked for like 12km around ubin
trying to maintain a diamond formation
i was kayaking with gp
at first it was super tiring!
cos our kayak was gg in all sorts of direction except straight!
hahaha so have to keep turning every now and then
i got quite frustrated lah
then i keep directing gp to do this and not to do that
eeks but he improved v fast lah! after that we were not lagging that much anymore
and it got more fun also!
cos it was like bumper kayak!
everyone's kayak keep bumping into the each
then everyone will laugh together and you'll start making friends
like YOU TWO AGAIN! bang into us how many times alr! hahahaha!
but i think cannot help it lah
most ppl seems to be gg in haywire directions also =P
then stopping for breaks was also fun
cos we'll like kind of raft up together and help each other if anyone needs to pee or sth
hahahaha
the weather was good too! it wasnt like really sunny
at a point of time it also rained vvv heavily
wah it was super scary
the waters were like vv choppy and it was v hard to row
but we told ourselves cannot we can do it must reach the shore cannot capsize
and we did!
had lunch then the rain stopped as suddenly as it started! zzz pulau ubin's weather must be wierd =P
we managed to reach our destination at like 2+
it was an achievement i guess! cos the instructors say other grps arrive in the late afternoon or evening
hahaha yay! i think its because of all the sea ex leaders and the encouragement from everyone!
as cliche as it might sound! but really lah everyone pushed each other on =)
we formed a circle at the end of sea ex and did a mobile A cheer!
which was like nj's YAHHHH cheer just change name =P hahah
come to think of it it was the most enriching part of the camp
i nv thought i could kayak that far and have so much fun at the same time =P
the reward was the swim in the quarry!!!!!
the water felt so nice and clean as compared to us HAHA =P
we started washing our sandy shoes and playing!
splash water dunk each other and spit water at each other!
hahahahaha vv fun!
the quarry was apparently 12 storeys deep so we had to put on lifejackets
then we could like float ard hahaha
after that went back to our campsite
washed up in our tents again
hahahaha and cooked maggi mee with sardines for dinner
had gossip session with liyan basil and feifan also!
cos their watches were camping there for the night too
we had a reflection session
where we discussed the strengths and weaknesses of our grp
actually there are many leaders in amundsen
alot ppl with good ideas
but i guess we really need someone to take the initiative
to step out and be the one to sort out these ideas
ya but i still like our watch alot alot =)
went to sleep
and guess what
in the middle of the night there was like karaoke!!
wierd sixties music blasting from dont know where!
hahahahahaha but i was too sleepy i just went back to sleep =P

day 4
land ex
we hiked for about 18km
but it didnt feel that long i think
although the backpacks were killing our backs and we had to take turns carry the tents and the jerry cans
they sang songs along the way
i was mostly thinking of alot of random stuff but it helped i guess =)
took turns to do pacing
haha i think pacing is fun!
as in cos you concentrate on counting our steps so you wont think of how painful your back is
mario said sth that i havent forgotten
its mind over matter- if you dont mind, it doesnt matter
makes sense right =P
and at every checkpoint there's like this quote to encourage us on
hahahah and i was telling myself
every step we take means we're 1 step closer to our destination
sth i learnt during our oac camps
ya and it really helped lah =P
finally reached camp1 which was one of our checkpoints for lunch
WAHH yes its like a resort! hahahah super nice
they have proper pavements toilets dining hall bunks swimming pool everything lah!
omg hahahaha
but we were glad we got a chance to go there
cos we all straight away chiong to the toilet to erm..shit
HAHAHAHAHA! cos havent shit for 3days lah! zzz =P
after lunch had some team building games
although we might have not succeed at the first few tries we kept trying lah
and eventually we will be able to succeed one =P
i guess that made us more determined
as in even in real life alot things we must keep hanging on keep trying
and one day you'll be able to do it
INSPIRING! hohoho =) sounds cliche but it really happens!
after taht trekked back to camp2! our destination
pitched our tents for 1 last time and went to do cooking
mario taught us how to cook nice outdoor food!
omg maggi mee nv tasted so nice before
HAHAHA he added alot of spices and chili flakes and pepper
we even had onion cabbages and meat
ya it was the best dinner we had in that 5days
really eat until stupid =P
HAHAHAHA
after taht went to went to do washing and packing
we had to wash pack and account for everything we used during the camp
it was quite sian but we were efficient! so we managed to finish like the fastest =P
so we got to BATHE! hahaha and brush my teeth!
omg omg so yellow ok i tell you
cos i nv got to see myself in teh mirror for the past 2days also
HAHAHAH stun
that night our tents were pitched in a circle
and we laid out the tub in teh middle
so some of us sat on the tub while others poke out from their tents
and we discussed what we should do for mario and birin when we leave the next day
and we came up with a poem/song using their usual phrases like mangkuks! =P
we planned to stay up the whole night to talk!
but got chased to sleep by the instructors cos everyone was making too much noise
oh oh the sky that night was super nice!
the whole sky was like covered with stars =)

day 5
unpitched our tents and went to do some final washing up
did our last activity for the camp
trust dive
it was quite meaningful cos our first activity was similiar, trust fall
this time everyone dived without that much hesitation
cos we knew each other well alr and everyone knew they would be able to support whoever was diving no matter how heavy he/she was =)
after that went shopping! ok no lah to the souvenir shop
bought the obs tshirt
but they had so little variety and sizes lah! but nvm lah =P
had debrief and some phototaking
then off we went back to singapore =)

i'm happy to be back lah
i miss my bed my comp!
but when i think back i realise those 5days were actually really vvvvv fun
it was an experience i wont forget in a long time lah
no matter how cliquey amundsen can get
we still work together vv well
and we are still able to laugh and play together =)
i'm sure we'll alw rmb mario's funny phrases and yes birin's smile!
and i think we have all changed in someway
i think i've learnt to treasure the things and people around me more or to be more confident that i can actually do it
encourgement is also like the drive to make everything succeed
i know! it sounds really cliche
but its really what i feel lah! dont know how to explain =P

although our outward bound journey is over
the real journey begins when we reach singapore
GO EVERYONE!
whatever comes along our journey like alevels or any difficulties
we should help each other along and we can overcome it!
we're all in this together =)
